Johnathan Tsao
Jonathan Tsao is the Member of Provincial Parliament for Don Valley North. He brings a wealth of experience from all three levels of government and from both political and public service roles. Jonathan has a strong background in public policy, government relations, and community advocacy, which he brings to his work at Queen’s Park.
Prior to his election in early 2025, Jonathan held senior advisory positions at both the federal and provincial levels, working with a range of government officials, from former Ministers to Premiers. He also gained international political experience as an advisor to a government Minister in the United Kingdom.
Jonathan previously served on Toronto City Council, where he focused on advancing community development and housing policy. His work reflects a consistent commitment to inclusive, solutions-oriented public service.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and a Master of Science in Global Politics from the London School of Economics, with a specialization in democracy promotion.
To complement his public service experience, Jonathan has participated in several international elections monitoring missions. He represented Canada on Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) monitoring missions in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and North Macedonia.
Most recently, he has served as Senior Manager of Government Relations at Habitat for Humanity, where he led key advocacy efforts focused on housing affordability and equitable access to homeownership, an area that remains a central focus of his legislative and community work.
In addition to his public service, Jonathan has served on the Board of Directors of the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care and the Toronto Zoo, reflecting his broader commitment to community well-being.
He continues to be a strong advocate for policies that promote affordable housing, youth opportunities, and newcomer integration. Jonathan is widely recognized for his collaborative approach to policymaking and his dedication to building strong, inclusive communities across Ontario.
